When Six Flags Qiddiya City opened just outside Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, it redefined what a modern theme park could be. As the first Six Flags park outside North America, the 320,000m² destination features seven immersive themed lands, world-class attractions and five Guinness World Record-breaking rides, creating one of the most ambitious entertainment projects ever undertaken.

To support this landmark development, Theme Trash Cans was selected to design and manufacture a completely bespoke waste management solution, delivering more than 500 themed trash cans and recycling stations across the park.

The Challenge

Operating in the Saudi Arabian climate presented unique engineering challenges. With summer temperatures regularly exceeding 50°C, conventional waste bins were simply not suitable for long-term outdoor performance.

The project required trash cans that would:

• Complement seven completely different themed lands

• Encourage recycling without compromising the guest experience

• Withstand extreme heat and prolonged UV exposure

• Resist fading, warping and material degradation

• Be robust enough for one of the world’s busiest new attractions

• Remain simple for operational teams to empty and maintain

Every product needed to combine immersive theming with engineering capable of performing in one of the harshest climates on earth.

Our Solution

Working alongside the project team, Theme Trash Cans designed a bespoke collection of themed waste and recycling stations tailored specifically to each of the park’s seven lands.

To maximise durability in extreme conditions, each unit was engineered with:

• No flap apertures, reducing moving parts and improving reliability

• Enhanced steel construction for maximum strength

• Specialist UV-stable vinyl graphics designed to withstand intense sunlight

• Bespoke artwork and branding unique to each themed area

• Easy-access servicing for efficient day-to-day operations

In total, over 500 custom trash cans and recycling stations were manufactured and installed throughout the park.

The Result

Today, Theme Trash Cans’ bespoke waste and recycling solutions are integrated throughout Six Flags Qiddiya City, helping maintain the immersive guest experience while supporting efficient waste management across one of the world’s most exciting new attractions.

By combining creative theming with engineering designed specifically for the Middle Eastern climate, the project demonstrates how functional infrastructure can become an integral part of the guest experience—even in one of the world’s most demanding operating environments.
