At LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort, every themed land tells its own story. From DUPLO® Valley and Knights’ Kingdom to The Lost Kingdom and Pirate Shores, every detail has been carefully designed to immerse families in the world of LEGO®.
When Merlin Entertainments required waste management solutions that complemented these environments, Environmental Street Furniture was selected to design and manufacture a collection of bespoke themed trash cans that would seamlessly integrate into each land without compromising the guest experience. The Challenge
With millions of visitors each year, LEGOLAND Windsor needed street furniture capable of handling constant daily use while preserving the magic of every themed environment.
The project required trash cans that would:
* Blend naturally into multiple themed lands
* Reflect the colours and character of each environment
* Encourage guests to dispose of waste correctly
* Withstand intensive outdoor use in all weather conditions
* Be simple for operational teams to empty and maintain
Rather than using a standard product throughout the park, every design needed to feel like it belonged within its surroundings. Our Solution
Working alongside Merlin Entertainments, we designed and manufactured a range of fully bespoke themed trash cans, each tailored to complement the surrounding attractions.
Every unit was produced using durable, weather-resistant materials with custom colours, themed graphics and aperture designs that reflected the identity of each land. From medieval-inspired finishes in Knights’ Kingdom to playful designs in DUPLO® Valley, the products became part of the storytelling rather than simply serving an operational purpose.
Designed for high-footfall attractions, the trash cans also feature secure, easy-to-service construction, ensuring they perform just as well behind the scenes as they do in front of guests.
The Result
Today, our themed trash cans can be found throughout LEGOLAND Windsor, helping maintain the park’s exceptionally high presentation standards while supporting an immersive guest experience.
By transforming a functional necessity into an extension of the themed environment, the project demonstrates how carefully designed street furniture can enhance storytelling, improve cleanliness and contribute to the overall visitor experience without ever drawing attention away from the attractions themselves.
